“BIENIO PROGRESISTA” (1854-1856)

RESUMEN: Después de diez años de existencia, en
1854 la Guardia Civil
estaba cumpliendo con los principales objetivos
para los que había sido fundada.
No obstante, durante el verano de aquel año se
inició un proceso revolucionario
que finalizó con los liberales progresistas en el
poder. La Guardia Civil,
como institución armada que era, tuvo que
combatir las revueltas hasta que,
triunfantes las mismas, se puso a las órdenes del
nuevo ejecutivo, y con un
inspector general extremeño a la cabeza de la
misma: Facundo Infante Chaves.
El Instituto armado se había convertido en una
“institución nacional” al servicio
del Gobierno de la nación.
ABSTRACT:
After ten years of existence, in 1854 the Civil Guard was serving
according
to the main objective of its foundation. However, during the summer
of
that year there began a revolutionary process that ended with the progressive
Liberals
in power. The Guardia Civil, as an armed institution, had to fight
the
riots until the revolts triumphed, and the institution had to conform to the
orders
of the new government, electing an Extremeño general inspector, Facundo
Infante
Chaves, as its head. The armed Institute had become a “national
institution”
at the service of the Government of the nation.
